The Paul Bowman Challenge constitutes a vibrant two-day Under 9 carnival, focusing on fostering participation, promoting good sportsmanship, and providing encouragement. With the participation of 70 teams from across Queensland, Proserpine will radiate energy during the Paul Bowman Challenge weekend. This event, centered around the under 9 age group, prioritizes the enjoyment of the young participants. Everyone is cordially invited to partake in the lively atmosphere of this splendid occasion. This event pays homage to the esteemed Paul Bowman, a former Proserpine Junior Rugby League player and a legendary figure in the sport. Paul Bowman’s illustrious career included 203 games played for the Cowboys from 1995 to 2007. Affectionately known as “Bear,” he not only captained the NQ Cowboys but also represented Queensland 12 times in the State of Origin series. The Proserpine/Whitsunday Junior Rugby League (PWJRL) coordinates this event, which takes place in the scenic Whitsunday region every September.
